We've really missed singing together, but have enjoyed making a number of virtual recordings.
Our first recording was a new commission from Matt Douglas called 'Her Song'. The 'her' is our Mother Earth. This was written with the Eden Festival in mind. The video shows the choir enjoying the novelty of lockdown.
We were incredibly lucky to lockdown in Cornwall. 'Beneath Thy Compassion' by Paul Mealor captured a sense of our gratitude.
The legendary Dolly Parton provided the music and lyrics to 'Light of a Clear Blue Morning' - a song which gave us hope that we may be looking at new horizons. The solo is by Kate Mooney.
All the videos and photographs were courtesy of choir members.
Wana Baraka is a joint effort with Jambawolly Picnic. It was when we first got together with families as lockdown was eased. This was such a blast to do.
In October we premiered an 'anthem for our time' - Becky McGlade's inspirational Paradise Found - featuring the singing of Becky herself as well as members of Canoryon, friends and family. See Becky McGlade for her catalogue of choral and other compositions.
At Christmas we created Stille Nacht (Silent Night) which raised over £750 for Cornwall Mind and had more than 8000 views on all platforms.
Lockdown in 2021 has proved hardest of all. Labi Siffre's wonderful anthem Something Inside So Strong seemed to capture the spirit of quiet determination. Once again, Canoryon Lowen was joined by our friends in Jambawolly Picnic.
